I grew up in Gwinnett. I came back.
Nine years in this business, on all three sides of it. Licensed in six states, working out of metro Atlanta.
I went to Duluth High School, then spent about twenty years away. Three years ago my family and I moved back. It’s home again, and I’d rather understand how it works than assume I already do — which is part of why I’m currently going through Gwinnett 101, the county’s twelve-week citizens academy. A different department every Wednesday night, at their facility, with their people.
Nine years in this business, on all three sides of it. A national bank, a direct lender, and now the broker side at Barrett Financial Group. That range is the reason I don’t take a decline at face value — I’ve seen what it looks like from inside the credit box.
On the veteran side I hold two Military Lending Specialist certifications. I didn’t serve; my family did. Helping veterans use the benefit they earned is a real part of this practice, not a product line.
I live and work on the north side of the county and across metro Atlanta generally. The practice isn’t bounded by county lines though. Six states personally, and the commercial side runs on a national lender network.
I keep notes on what I’m learning in the academy and what I’m seeing around the county. What I’m watching in Gwinnett County →
Where I’m licensed, and what that means
I’m individually licensed in Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina and Washington under NMLS #1652615. Those are the states where I can personally originate a residential loan.
Barrett Financial Group is licensed in 49 states. Those are two different things and they get blended together constantly — a company license is not a loan officer license, and it doesn’t let me write a loan in a state I’m not licensed in.
Commercial is different. Commercial real estate financing isn’t bound by residential state licensure the same way, which is why that side of the practice runs nationally.
On the veteran side I hold two Military Lending Specialist certifications.

“As a realtor, I’ve worked with many lenders, but Aaron stands out above the rest. He guided me through what was hands down the most difficult transaction of my career... He even shows up to the closing table.”
“As first-time homebuyers, my spouse and I walked into the mortgage process feeling nervous and overwhelmed. Working with Aaron changed everything. He truly humanized the experience from start to finish.”
“Aaron did an excellent job explaining everything and always kept us informed of what task needed to be completed next. He always kept us updated on what step of the process was next.”
